Michigan affirmative action case at the Supreme Court - tomorrow!

At issue: Did Michigan violate the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution by amending the state constitution to prohibit race-based preferential treatment in public-university admissions decisions?

 Article here.

The US Supreme Court will hear oral argument on this Tuesday, October 15. Get there early!

The surprising thing to me is that so many of these affirmative action cases come out of our state. Michigan is a pretty conservative state on many issues, that happens to get pulled to the left because of other issues.

The current interpretation of the issues  is pretty well summarized in this wikipedia article.
